Today, my source of pleasure is one of the greatest sources of happiness for me: BOOKS. Chiefly, new books. Unfortunately, I've given up fiction & poetry (excepting school work, of course) for Lent. So here are my current books of interest.
For starters: William Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury. This little guy will be my burden, my friend, ...and my bedfellow for the next three weeks (we've just been assigned the first third for my Faulkner seminar). I've been warned against getting chummy with him, but really, look at that cover.
J'adore. Ah, and here we have the newest edition of my portly library: a collection of essays by French philosopher Michel de Montaigne entitled On Solitude. And again, that cover! I'm such a sucker for covers.
Oh, and I've saved the best for last. My new Cambridge King James paragraph bible. I've literally been waiting for this bible since last June.
My favorite hymn is Psalm 1. Glorious.
Two ribbon bookmarks. Stitched binding. Calfskin leather. Paragraphs.
and gilt edges. Yes.
Oh, books. Happy Friday!
